COLUMBIA, SC (April 11, 2024) – A Beaufort Powerball® winner is all smiles after winning $100,000.
“I’m happy,” he told South Carolina Education Lottery officials.
His Powerball® ticket with PowerPlay® matched all but one number drawn on March 27 (37, 46, 57, 60, 66 and PB: 8). The odds of that happening are nearly 1 in a million.
The winner says he plays Powerball® twice a week, and randomly picked out the winning numbers himself at the Publix grocery store on Robert Smalls Pkwy. in Beaufort. If he had matched just one more number, he would have won an $865 million jackpot.
“I’m pleased with what I got,” he said. “And I’m still playing.”
For selling the claimed ticket, Publix Super Markets Inc. #1716 in Beaufort received a commission of $1,000.
