COLUMBIA, SC (September 5, 2024) – An Upstate man wasn’t planning on buying a lottery ticket when he walked in the Circle K on E. Main St. in Duncan. But he left the store $75,000 richer.
“It was spontaneous,” he told South Carolina Education Lottery officials of his decision to play. “I had a few extra dollars, so I bought a ticket.”
He paid $3 for the scratch-off and admits the result took him by surprise. “I kept looking at it,” he said. Once the shock wore off, he says he started planning a trip to Columbia to cash it in and then back home to the bank.
“I’m going to be smart with it,” he said.
The winning ticket was bought for $3 at the Circle K Stores Inc. #2723294 in Duncan. The store received a commission of $750 for selling it.
One top prize of $75,000 remain in the Cash Wheel game at odds of 1 in 900,000.
